CSI Recruiting is working with a growing and financially robust Oil & Gas company in Dallas, assisting in their search for a Director of Procurement.

The Director of Procurement will provide leadership to the company’s procurement function, including strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; policies, procedures, metrics, and systems; recruiting and team development; and communications with executive leadership. Work with internal business partners to create and drive standardization and simplification initiatives that improve service, costs, and provides a competitive advantage. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize and execute an evolving portfolio of sourcing initiatives to drive value/savings and support the objectives of the organization.
  • Structure analysis of third-party spend to enable informed decision-making with stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations and implementation of contractual agreements in partnership with internal and external partners. Manage business and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions and ensure compliance with approved contract structures.
  • Manage suppliers, ensuring supply reliability and continuity, price stability, price predictability, innovation, and identification of alternative sources.
  • Build partnerships and programs with supply base to drive end-to-end cost optimization.
  • Ensure suppliers perform to contracted obligations and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify root causes of non-compliance and drive to efficient resolution.
  • Improve and align the requisition, ordering, receipt and payment processes to reduce cycle time and transactions cost.
  • Manage P2P system implementation and ensure process integrity through appropriate internal controls such as vendor masters, material masters, and catalogs.
  • Provide regular intelligence to stakeholders regarding the company’s evolving spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insight to stakeholders regarding pricing, vendor, and technology trends.
  • Identify and hire talent to support the procurement strategy and growth plans.
  • Manage performance through structured and measurable objectives, aligning individual and company goals.
  • Develop and coach the procurement team to build strong and positive relationships with internal clients and the associated vendor base.

Key Attributes:

•    15+ years of professional experience in operations-centric organizations with established procurement functions, including 5+ years leading teams.

•    Expertise in strategic sourcing and leading multi-category sourcing teams for both direct and indirect spend.

•    Expertise in negotiations and contracting, including should-cost models, leveraged agreements, multi-year contracts, complex terms and conditions, performance incentives, e-sourcing, and management of corporate risk.

•    Expertise leading and extracting measurable value from value analysis and value engineering initiatives.

•    Able to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously and assess priorities in a complex environment.

•    Expert understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, practices, and the value and use of ERP systems.

•    Expert-level financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; and experience with business and supplier performance score carding and reporting.

•    Demonstrated ability to work with suppliers and internal constituencies to develop solutions that reduce costs while maintaining quality and service.

•    Demonstrated success leading cross-functional project teams and influencing others through both direct and indirect networks.  Self-reliant, hands-on leader, adept at working across the organization to drive change through action and influence.

•    Strong orientation to team leadership, coaching, collaboration, and positive communication.  Experience attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.

•    A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding, and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity.

•    Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

•    Bachelor degree required.  MBA or other advance degree preferred.

•    CPM, CPSM or other procurement and/or supply chain certification preferred.
