Acquisitions Geologist – Denver, CO

CSI Recruiting is working for a Denver-based oil & gas company on their immediate need for an experienced Evaluations Geologist.  The Evaluations Geologist will focus on acquisitions evaluations of onshore domestic oil & gas assets for the company to purchase.  The Evaluations Geologist will help generate new ideas for acquisition opportunities, working as part of an integrated team to directly support existing acquisition efforts with comprehensive petroleum system evaluations as part of history analysis and basin modeling work.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology is Required, Master’s degree in Geology is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as an exploration geologist, including applied basin analysis / basin modeling experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and work prioritization judgement to complement technical focus and handle multiple concurrent objectives effectively.
  • Current 2-D and 3-D integrated workstation interpretation experience with SMT/Kingdom experience preferred. Hands on interpretation work is critical to contributing in this role – petrophysical skills are preferred, using Petrel.
  • Experienced in applying both play and prospect risk analysis techniques
  • Proficient in Petra. Experience in GIS software is preferred.
  • Ability to clearly summarize and communicate concepts and ideas both to peers and management in writing and in presentation.
  • Able to think and act creatively, and constructively challenge conventional thinking while maintaining focus on solving relevant and important technical challenges

Essential Functions

  • Work with engineering staff and company management to identify, quantify, risk, and document new acquisition opportunities within the onshore domestic U.S.
  • Drive basin modeling projects and incorporate project team structural and stratigraphic interpretations into integrated petroleum system evaluations to conduct basin modeling studies and total petroleum system assessments
  • Plan and execute appropriate geological evaluations as necessary.
  • Develop a strong and cooperative working relationship with partners and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with corporate management.
  • Strong individual initiative, project leadership, and communication skills are as important as technical competency.
