CSI Recruiting is seeking candidates for a Acquisitions Manager / Landman role in Houston, Texas, to focus on the sourcing and acquiring on minerals within the state of Texas.

Working within a small, well-funded firm, the Acquisitions Manager / Landman  role will be responsible for acquiring mineral rights and royalty interests within the oil and gas producing regions of Texas.

This Acquisitions Manager / Landman position will involve extensive outreach via phone, email and in-person, in addition to research and analysis skills.  Must have advanced interpersonal skills and enjoy making new contacts.

The process begins with your search for mineral owners of both producing and non producing properties and via excellent communications skills.  You’ll discuss their interest in selling all or a portion of their ownership position.  By creating trust and developing a professional relationship, you’ll provide price guidance to potential sellers and initiate purchase negotiations, taking control of the purchase process to a successful acquisition conclusion.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Research through the Texas Railroad Commission and the county of record where properties are located was to confirm the name and contact information for contact the mineral owner.
  • Create and Update ownership reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Perform due diligence research projects and conduct ownership interest verification.
  • Research indexes, probates and documents at multiple courthouses throughout Texas and Oklahoma.


For this Acquisitions Manager / Landman position, the client is seeking individuals with a MINIMUM of 4 years of experience in petroleum landman positions, expertise in contracts, negotiations and familiarity with working in and around the major producing regions of Texas and Oklahoma.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of hands-on Mineral Buying experience, and be prepared to site examples of past purchases and success in sourcing sellers in a competitive landscape.

Entrepreneurial mindset is key, as you’ll need to be self-motivated and eager for the next possible deal, not waiting for the phone to ring.
