Reservoir Engineer – Conventional Assets, Houston, TX

CSI Recruiting is working with a financially healthy and growth-minded E&P firm in their search for an experienced, early-career Reservoir Engineer to join their team of experienced professionals.  This firm is specifically looking to hire a Reservoir Engineer that is currently working with conventional oil assets in the Lower 48 (U.S.), specifically waterflood and / or CO2 Flood assets.

Particulars of the position include:

  • Identify, generate, and recommend economically sound investment projects (i.e. recompletions, drill well opportunities, and waterflood optimization processes) to apply to the company’s producing properties for the purpose of enhancing both oil and gas production and increasing the company’s reserve base.
  • Work in a team environment with other experienced reservoir engineers, geologists, production engineers, landmen, and field personnel to identify and execute capital projects.
  • Take a leadership role on certain designated capital budget projects, and share responsibility with other team members for ensuring the timely and cost efficient execution of these specific projects.
  • Monitor performance of assigned properties to ensure production goals are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain an awareness of evolving industry practices and emerging technologies as they apply to maximizing the economic recovery of hydrocarbons from the company’s oil & gas assets.

Qualifications:    

  • Seeking 5 to 10 years of reservoir engineering experience with a focus on conventional assets.  Experience with waterflood assets is a STRONG plus.  
  • Some experience and familiarity with production/operations engineering a plus.
  • Experienced in Type Curve creation, oil/gas production decline curve analysis and forecasting, non-operated project deal flow analysis and evaluation, downspacing analysis, production & injection diagnostics (i.e. Rate vs Time, Hall Plot, Oil Cut vs Cum Oil, etc.), company reserves forecasting, project economic analysis, and familiar with enhanced/improved oil recovery technologies.
  • Skilled at leading the development of capital reserve-adding projects and preparing/presenting recommendations to upper level management for approval.
  • Experienced in the use of OFM, MicroSoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, IHS & Enverus databases, PHDWin, and Spotfire/Tableau software programs.
  • BS in Engineering (preferably Petroleum Engineering).
