CSI Recruiting is working with a privately-held E&P company headquartered in Dallas, Texas in their need to hire a Director of Accounting Operations. 

This position will report to the company’s President and be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and the strategic plans for future growth.

Corporate Accounting competency is important, as you will have oversight of the Controller and be involved in all high-level accounting matters.  Additionally, a background in basic corporate finance is key as the role will touch on the company’s banking relationships, debt servicing and financing arrangements.

This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Corporate Accounting professional to work in a forward-thinking environment where you can have a direct impact on the success of the company.  Ideally candidates will have experience in public accounting and are seeking an in-house role in a stable, growing company.

The company does not have a CFO, meaning that this role will be the most senior accounting and finance position in the company.

Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Direct all aspects of company’s accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to General Ledger, Receivables, Payables, and Financial Reporting, including oversight of Controller.
  • Preparing all quarterly and annual financial statements for various entities, and calculation / preparation of debt covenants and compliance certificates.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for several corporations under the firm’s management.
  • Collaborate with executives and division managers to create realistic budgets and assist in tracking the performance of those budgets.
  • Ensure all records are maintained in accordance with GAAP
  • Analyze company financial results with respect to profits, costs, compliance with budgets for all companies under management
  • Manage Cash Flow (including approval of weekly A/P cash outflow)
  • Create annual budgets and regular forecasts updates based on performance and results
  • Prepare for and coordinate the annual audits and tax work performed by external CPA firms.

Secondary:

  • Develop and manage relationships with lending and financial institutions. To include the company’s current financial relationships and potential future relationships
  • Interact with capital partners and Board of Directors
  • Provide strategic guidance with respect to financing options and entity structures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA Required.  Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize with minimal direction
  • Experience in the upstream Oil & Gas industry is required
  • Ability to multi-task in an environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in accounting for derivatives, asset retirement obligations, oil and gas property depletion and equity investment methods
