Financial Analyst, Oil & Gas – Irving, TX
CSI Recruiting is working with an E&P client in the Mid-Cities of Dallas / Fort Worth on their need for an Oil & Gas Financial Analyst to analyze financial information, manage data and assist management in reporting and forecasting financial information.
The Day-to-Day
- Apply advanced financial analysis and cost accounting principles, practices, and techniques to analyze cost data; prepare operating budgets; and perform analysis to support strategic decision-making and reduce costs.
- Prepare more advanced analysis and variance reports, tables, charts, and graphs; gather data, identify variables, prepare financial models, and determine/prioritize viable solutions.
- Perform analysis to determine present & future financial performance, returns and cash impacts.
- Gather, analyze, prepare, and summarize recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, future requirements, operating forecasts, etc.
- Design and troubleshoot standard and advanced visualizations and reports.
- Assist in writing the annual financial plan, which includes researching, analyzing, writing, and creating graphics.
- Conduct thorough analysis on financial trends and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare and distribute various month end and quarterly financial reports.
- Create and deliver presentations on financial data or financial guidance to key stakeholders.
- Interacts with other departments, as well as external and internal auditors to research and resolve items on a timely basis.
- Research technical issues as needed related to primary job responsibilities.
- Participates in special projects as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Works independently using initiative and self-motivation. Must be a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision

- Excels in quickly conceptualizing and assimilating data to help make decisions and take appropriate action
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Proficient in communicating to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Able to take a leadership role in a team to establish plans, coordinate activities, and assure successful completion of objectives
- Comfortably handles risk and uncertainty
- Advanced skills on MS Office Suite
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance required
- Experience with financial modeling and analyzing financials – specifically experience in MS Excel – financial modeling, pivot tables and data tables.
