CSI Recruiting is working with a best-in-class E&P company located in Dallas, Texas, supporting their need to hire an experienced Geoscience Data Analyst.  The primary responsibilities of the Geoscience Data Analyst will be management and administration of operational data within the company’s geologic and petroleum engineering software tools.  Additionally, the Geoscience Data Analyst will be tasked with developing and maintaining best practices for working in shared (corporate project) environments and implementing these processes throughout the organization.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the company’s data suppliers (internal and external / 3rd party) to create the most accurate dataset (well, operations, production/injection) possible for a given project
  • Import/upload, organize, and manage data in various petroleum engineering and geoscience applications (Petra, Kingdom)
  • Maintain and monitor inventory of data (types, quality, quantity, sources, licenses)
  • Synchronize data between various projects and software applications
  • With emphasis on project sustainability and end-user needs, develop workflows and best practices for utilizing shared (corporate) projects in Petra
  • Create associated documentation / training for technical staff
  • Work closely with the company’s geoscience, operations and engineering staff to disseminate knowledge and adoption of best practices
  • Provide support relating to Petra and other software; coordinate with staff and software technical support to resolve problems and capture solutions

Requirements

  • 5 to 15 years of industry experience, with at least 5 years of experience in E&P software
  • Ability to complete multiple and diverse tasks of differing priorities
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
  • Understanding of end-user data requirements and work flows
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following E&P software:
    • MS Office
    • OFM
    • Petra
    • SMT-Kingdom
    • G&G data providers (IHS Enerdeq, DrillingInfo, state & regulatory websites, etc.)
    • Experience with ESRI GIS software is a plus
    • Experience with Petrel, GeoGraphix, and Harmony is a plus
  • Strong understanding of project / software architecture and database management
  • Experience with database architecture (i.e. SQL) and data analytics software (i.e. FME) preferred
  • Preferred: Degree from accredited four-year university or college with a science, math or computer emphasis
