Lease Analyst / Land Analyst- Downtown Houston

CSI Recruiting is working with a privately-held oil & gas company in downtown Houston, supporting their hiring need for an experienced Lease Analyst.   The role will heavily involve data setup and ensuring data integrity across these land and lease responsibilities.

This Lease Analyst will work within a small Land Administration team focused on NON-OP assets across multiple basins and will be responsible for overseeing and performing analysis of leases, contracts, title opinions, and other legal documentation as related to newly acquired acreage, acquisitions and divestitures in order to determine and maintain company ownership in leases, contracts and wells.


  • Research, analyze and set up complex Leases, Mineral Deeds, ROW’s, Surface Agreements, and Contracts for proper administration of provisions and obligations;
  • Set up well working interest, royalty interest and overrides through analyzing and researching Title Opinions, Assignments, Conveyances, Stipulation of Interests, Pooling Affidavits, Communitization Agreements, etc. and advise Management of title issues that may arise.
  • Assist with Acquisitions and/or Divestitures;
  • Work with Brokers, Landmen, and Division Order Staff in review and interpretation of title opinions, curative, leases, assignments and agreements;
  • Determine the company’s share of pooled acreage by analyzing and researching Pooling and Spacing Orders, Affidavits, Land Files, and Title Opinions;
  • Perform set up and routing of Non-Op Division Orders


  • Current industry experience in oil & gas lease analysis and land administration;
  • Experience working with an integrated land system;
  • Strong understanding of how working interest, mineral interest and overrides are calculated;
  • Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and acute attention to detail;
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with team members at all levels of the organization;
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to handle multiple, competing priorities and
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
