Oil & Gas Accountant / E&P Operations – Fort Worth, TX

CSI Recruiting is supporting a privately held E&P company in their need for an in-house Oil & Gas Accountant (Upstream / E&P) to work in the company’s Fort Worth headquarters office, and report to the Director of Accounting.  The company is a smaller firm – less than 100 employees – and has a track record of very stable financials and successful business operations.


The essential job duties of the Oil & Gas Accountant shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Perform daily accounting functions for this small, private upstream oil & gas company, including but not limited to operations, production, JIB, revenue, and tax accounting functions.  Apply GAAP to all accounting processes and functions.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset subledgers for GAAP and Tax basis
  • Perform cash management duties and base borrowing report on a monthly basis
  • Multiple Bank reconciliations for depository accounts
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and subledgers; reviewing for input accuracy and prepare monthly reports and journal entries, as needed
  • Work with field staff to provide analysis on revenue, expenses, and net proceeds
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including cash flow statement
  • Provide information to tax manager and payroll manager for quarterly business and payroll taxes
  • Assistance with the annual budget and audit process
  • Enter bi-weekly payroll through system upload
  • Prepare and/or review of all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure
  • Perform other related duties as may be requested by management


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting REQUIRED, MSA preferred.
  • Proficient in accounting software (5 years minimum experience)
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • 5+ years comprehensive Oil & Gas Accountant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Wolfepak
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced work environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Thrives in a collaborative, team player office environment
  • Ability to interface well with staff and external contacts
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Small company experience is a plus
