CSI Recruiting is working with an independent, privately-owned and highly entrepreneurial upstream oil and gas  (E&P) and energy investment company in their immediate hiring need for an experienced Oil & Gas Litigation Attorney to work in Denver, Colorado.

Our client is seeking a focused, determined legal professional with a proven ability to perform top caliber work and tackle complex legal issues in the oil and gas energy industries to fill the position of Oil & Gas Litigation Attorney.

The successful candidate will work tenaciously, diligently, and independently to complete multiple projects ahead of schedule and have a strong business orientation with a resourceful and creative approach to solutions.  As Litigation Attorney, you will be responsible for handling the company’s litigation and disputes from inception to conclusion including gathering of necessary evidence and hands on direct management of outside counsel.  This position will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining a records management/retention policy and a contractual risk management program.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Complete all stages of litigations in a hands-on capacity; including design strategy, construct arguments, prepare witnesses for depositions, gather and review documents, manage cases, and direct outside council.
  • Investigate, research, and provide legal guidance on corporate and complex litigation matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, inter-company relationships, and other issues and circumstances which arise in the company’s day-to-day business activities.
  • Identify and analyze legal issues and risks, introduce business savvy and strategic legal advice to ensure compliance with issues facing the company.
  • Implement and maintain a records management/retention policy.
  • Ensure company contracts are updated to ensure best practices for risk management (insurance and indemnities) and minimize potential for disputes.
  • Keep up-to-date on industry related laws and regulations to identify change and incorporate into policies, procedures, and transactions.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Chief General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel and senior management, and provide other legal advice and services as the needs of the organization arise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and J.D from an ABA accredited school.
  • Minimum eight years’ working with civil litigation.
  • Demonstrated litigation and trial experience, as well as experience in handling complex discovery. Oil and gas litigation experience is strongly preferred.
  • A private practice background is desirable.
  • Organized, task and detail oriented; consistently delivers on-time in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
