For a Permian Basin-focused oil & gas company, this Operations Technician role will be based in Midland, Texas.  The successful Operations Technician candidate will be a hands-on, self-motivated, dependable, well-organized and results-oriented professional with the ability to demonstrate a proven track record of meeting deadlines and goals. The Operations Technician candidate will be responsible for review and coordination of production and sales with field personnel to maintain correct reports. The successful Operations Technician candidate must have good interpersonal skills and experience in oil and gas production accounting.

Job Duties

  • Validate the company’s West Texas production data to assure no oil/water negatives are not addressed, run tickets are accurate, and oil and gas settlement statements are correct.
  • Confirm gas meters are functioning and volumes correctly reported.
  • Confirm water meters are functioning and volumes are correctly reported.
  • Confirm pressure readings are properly reported.
  • Verify downtime and well tests are timely completed and reported so correct product allocations can be done.
  • Research/troubleshoot anomalies in production numbers.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to correct errors and anomalies.
  • Track multiple operational items: project progress and success, field shrink, marginal wells, and monthly projected production.
  • Provide reports for all groups including management, marketing, accounting, engineering etc.
  • Be prepared with ability to report equipment inspections of meters, tanks, and other information for regulatory agencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an in-house Engineering Technician within an E&P company, preferably with a focus on Production Technician or Operations Technician functions.
  • Must be proficient with Excel and skillful with software in general.  Must be able to manage large data sets, generate reports and stay organized.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are key, as you’ll be interfacing with engineers, field personnel and accounting staff on a regular basis, via phone, email and in person.
