Petroleum Landman – The Woodlands, Texas

CSI Recruiting is currently working with a leading E&P firm with decades in business, assisting in their search for an experienced Petroleum Landman.  This role will focus on operations work within East and South Texas, but will also be involved in A&D transactions and data-intensive analysis efforts.  The position is in-office, with the expectation of a typical Monday-Friday work schedule.  You’ll be collaborating with peers, supervisors and support staff in an in-person working environment across the company’s Land, Engineering and Geoscience departments.

The client requires an experienced in-house landman that can work on a variety of projects including:

o   Texas asset development

  • Onshore, gas-focused asset development via a 1-2 rig program
  • Working hand-in-hand with the 2 other in-house landmen focused on this region
  • Manage surface, leasing, and title work to support rig schedule in assigned area

o   Business Development Projects

  • Both A&D and exploration projects
  • Land diligence (pre-bid) – reviewing VDR information, working with technical team to prepare evaluation, using internal software to evaluate above ground risk and competitive environment, preparing & presenting internal management presentations, etc
  • Land diligence (PSA pre closing) – managing contractors working land diligence
  • Possibly stay with the asset and lead the development effort post-closing

Qualifications:

o   Seeking 10-20 years of in-house experience, working for an active operating company focused on development, acquisition and divestiture of onshore oil and gas assets.

o   Experience working Texas assets, particularly East Texas, Texas Gulf Coast and South Texas assets is strongly preferred

o   The following is desirable, but not required

  • Louisiana experience
  • Transactional and/or diligence experience

o   4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Land Management or Energy Management.  Completion of a JD, or an MBA or other Master’s Degree program is preferred.
