Reservoir Engineer – Downtown Houston

CSI Recruiting is working with a long-standing and growth-minded E&P firm in Downtown Houston, supporting their need for an experienced Reservoir Engineer.  The Reservoir Engineer will work within the firm’s small and highly effective Reservoir Engineering team, supporting the company’s development, drilling and A&D functions.  The position will work with operated and non-op assets, located within unconventional plays in Texas and elsewhere in the U.S.

The role will receive significant guidance and mentoring from the Manager of Reservoir Engineering and from the team’s Senior Reservoir Engineers, but you will also be expected to contribute and work independently on field development, planning, economic forecasting, reserves, reservoir analysis and A&D evaluation projects.

The Reservoir Engineer is also responsible for supporting Operations by doing economic analysis of workover operations, working with Geology for development of recompletion opportunities, and working closely with Land/Finance on acquisition projects.

Ideal candidates will have at least three years of working experience within an active E&P environment, but still be in the early stages of their career.  This is not a role for someone with senior-level reservoir engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform economic analysis and engineering evaluations for acquisitions, drilling, workover, and recompletion opportunities.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting for reporting purposes
  • Provide reservoir engineering support for base producing wells including decline curve analysis and identifying wells that are off trend
  • Make recommendations for well location/spacing, completion parameters, and other design considerations to optimize well performance and development efficiency.
  • Coordinate lookback analysis to evaluate lessons learned and improvements for future activities
  • Investigate and understand other operators’ projects to assist in company exploration and development processes
  • Maintain up-to-date and auditable reserves database
  • Generate and maintain type-well curves and provide forecasts for planning purposes
  • Assist with the reserves process and be able to defend reserve estimations to both internal and external parties

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have 3-7 years of Reservoir Engineering experience, spent working in an active, domestic onshore E&P environment, performing a combination of asset development and corporate reservoir engineering functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Petroleum Engineering
  • ARIES proficiency required
  • Spotfire experience preferred
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
