Reservoir Engineer / Evaluations Engineer – Tyler, TX

CSI Recruiting is working with an E&P company located in Tyler, Texas on their need for an experienced Reservoir Engineer / Evaluations Engineer to focus on assessing acquisitions opportunities for the company.

Our client is seeking an innovative and results-driven Reservoir Engineering and Business Development professional specializing in asset evaluation, economics analysis, and both conventional and unconventional resource development.   Client needs this person to employ sound decision making methods to complex projects, including commercial and economic analysis 


The Reservoir Engineer / Evaluations Engineer will review and evaluate new business opportunities, incorporating reservoir, operations, geology, and commercial considerations into economics and development plans of assets.

The Reservoir Engineer / Evaluations Engineer will prepare technical evaluations and presentations to senior management and company ownership, identifying and articulating the downside risks and upside opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities and Expected Functions:

  • Identify key reservoir engineering drivers and issues associated with acquisition opportunities
  • Provide guidance to company’s senior management and board members
  • Build production profiles for economic modeling based on EUR distributions of horizontal and vertical wells
  • Analyze well spacing, rig options and D&C/other capital and LOE requirements
  • Analyze operational and financial data and incorporate this into integrated economic models using ARIES
  • Integrate geological, reservoir, land and production data into economic model
  • Assist with the identification of acquisition opportunities and the associated technical, commercial, and strategic merits and risks
  • Estimate reserves 
  • Be involved in data room evaluations 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering
  • 10+ years of reservoir engineering / evaluations engineering / business development experience
  • Proven track record of successful evaluations resulting in acquisitions that proved profitable and were value additions to the company’s asset base.
  • Experience in new venture identification, evaluation, and acquisitions
  • Strong understanding of production, reservoir engineering and development concepts, especially in unconventional resources
  • Highly proficient in Excel and ARIES, experience in discounted cash flow economic modeling and industry fiscal terms
  • Knowledge of related disciplines, e.g. geophysics, petrophysics, facilities, drilling, completions production operations, commercial and business issues
  • Professional and skilled communicator and presenter
  • Exposure to multiple US basins (Lower 48)
  • Willingness and ability to travel
