CSI Recruiting is working with a start-up oil & gas company in their efforts to hire a key person for their technical team, an experienced Reservoir Engineering Analyst to work hand-in-hand with company founders, assisting in the screening, evaluation, work-up and landing of acquisition opportunities.  The role will focus on domestic, onshore unconventional oil projects within the Permian and Mid-Continent.

The Company

The firm is comprised of a management team of mid-career, high-energy technical and business leaders that have previously worked for large operators, while also having built an E&P company that performed a highly successful acquire-develop-divest program within a private equity model.  Their goal is to build an organization designed to acquire high-upside projects, apply aggressive, best-in-breed technical procedures to the assets and produce those properties for the long term.

The Role

The right Reservoir Engineering Analyst will bring an advanced technical skill set to the firm, with a concentration on supporting engineering and management teams with date-intensive unconventional oil projects, in addition to novel ideas around data acquisition and usage.  This is not a one or two dimension role, as you’ll be asked to be innovative while also executing on the tasks at hand.

You will work closely with the founders of the firm and will be given clear directives for your role in the company’s active acquisition targets.  Once asset are acquired, you’ll continue working on acquisition evaluations in addition to asset development projects.


  • Running Economics for acquisition targets using ARIES database
  • Evaluate oil wells by developing forecast curves on gas, oil and water production
  • Keep company ARIES database up to date by importing IHS data
  • Update well data in ARIES
  • Maintain AFE flow and provide estimated costs and forecasts for Completion and Reservoir department
  • Help in preparation of presentation materials for management review, including compiling and extracting engineering data and creating displays, reports and other information conveyances.


Candidates must have a minimum of 5 Years of professional experience functioning in a Reservoir Engineering Analyst role or in a similar capacity, with an emphasis on ARIES work, Excel abilities and hands-on experience in an effort to evaluate and acquire domestic, onshore oil assets.
