Reservoir Engineering Manager – Houston, TX

CSI Recruiting is working with an E&P firm located in Downtown Houston in need of a Reservoir Engineering Manager to join the firm as a key member of the company’s technical management team in making investment decisions, developing assets and reporting results.

The responsibilities include:

  • Reservoir engineering support in a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate the acquisitions of both conventional and unconventional assets
  • Reservoir engineering support for asset development
  • Preparation of internal and external reserve reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage experienced reservoir engineers and providing professional development of the technical staff and supporting multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Conduct technical due diligence and provide reserves/economic evaluations for acquisitions.
  • Recommend and provide reserves estimates for drilling programs and recompletions.
  • Maintain corporate reserves database to provide reserve estimates for reporting mid-year and year-end reserves, bank meetings and other purposes. Manage the preparation of the annual company reserve estimates with the firm’s outside reserve auditor.
  • Reserve and economic evaluation of oil and gas assets based on information available from public and private data sources.
  • Work as a member of multi-disciplinary teams to evaluate and develop opportunities on both existing assets and assets targeted for potential acquisition.
  • Provide production, expense and capital expenditure forecasts and budgets.
  • Identify and justify drilling, workovers, recompletions and well improvement opportunities on both existing assets and assets targeted for acquisition.
  • Utilize advanced reservoir engineering techniques to recommend actions to improve reservoir performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide industry intelligence and assessments and identify opportunities from publicly available data sources. Maintain basin-wide reserve and type curve estimates.
  • Stay current with leading-edge technologies and practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering (advanced degree in business or engineering is a plus).
  • 10+ years of industry experience with at least 5 in reservoir engineering.  Preferably the bulk of the engineering experience will be from working in-house at a domestic-focused E&P firm.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with reservoir modeling, RTA software and Rose risk analysis is a plus.
  • Acquisition/divestiture experience and/or SEC reserve reporting experience.
  • An understanding of SPEE Monograph 4 for low permeability reservoirs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Aries, PRAMS or equivalent software, Wellview or equivalent software, IHS or DrillingInfo, and Spotfire.
  • Experience working on an asset team within an active E&P environment to develop unconventional plays
