Reservoir Engineering Technician – Denver, CO

CSI Recruiting is working with a Denver-based firm seeking to hire an experienced, professional and hard-working Reservoir Engineering Technician / Reservoir Analyst to join their small but highly productive technical team.

The Reservoir Engineering Technician will provide direct support to the company’s reserves management and acquisition evaluations. Using technology and databases, the Reservoir Engineering Technician will work in support of the evaluation of domestic onshore acquisition opportunities of minerals, royalty and working interests for the company to purchase.

Job Specifications – Reservoir Engineering Technician

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math or computer sciences / information technology is highly preferred
  • A minimum of five years of experience as an engineering technician or engineering analyst, with an emphasis on supporting reservoir engineering functions including asset evaluations for acquisition.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Thorough knowledge of oil and gas software and tools with preference given to Aries and PHDWin and Spotfire
  • Strong MS Office abilities, with an emphasis on high level Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to pull, manipulate, and analyze large sets of data
  • Must be aware of the importance of teamwork within the engineering department and possess the ability to adapt to a changing working environment

Essential Functions for Reservoir Engineering Technician

Reserves Management

  • Help manage an asset database of thousands of properties in various unconventional basins
  • Utilize Aries or PHDWin software to help manage company reserves
  • Pull updated production from public sources such as DrillingInfo or IHS
  • Create shape files for all new acquisitions for ease of use in asset management
  • Add and update new well acquisitions along with new drilling activity as this information becomes available

Acquisition Evaluations

  • Help construct an evaluation model for individual units within major, onshore, domestic, oil and gas plays
  • Pull historical production for wells in a given area from public sources such as DrillingInfo or IHS
  • Provide assistance in type curve construction based on regional focus areas determined by geological parameters
  • Identify recent filings for permits, spud dates, and first production
  • Construct an evaluation model framework in Aries or PHDWin that incorporates current production and future expectations for a given unit location and shape
  • Update production from producing wells to update offer values to account for decline


Client provides a base salary commensurate with industry standards within the Denver market, depending on experience and technical acumen.  Additionally, you will receive health insurance, paid time off and other company benefits.  This role will also be eligible for annual bonuses, and stock within the company, a ‘share in the success of the firm’ model.
