Senior Drilling Engineer – Oklahoma City

CSI Recruiting is working with a growing oil company in Oklahoma City on their need for an experienced Senior Drilling Engineer.  This company has an excellent unconventional oil asset in the Mid-Continent and is expanding their drilling program in 2019.  This Drilling Engineer will be integral in the planning, preparation and execution of drilling operations within the Mid-Continent.

Overview of the role:

  • Manages the day‐to‐day drilling operations by providing engineering expertise and oversight to the field, troubleshooting and resolving drilling issues
  • Reviews drilling invoices for accuracy and management approval; provides AFE cost estimates for future well operations
  • Tracks the progress of drilling schedules and monitoring progress on plats, drilling programs and permits
  • Collaborates with operations and geologists to ensure wellbores are designed to required specifications
  • Provides full time engineering support to assigned drilling rig(s). Monitors daily morning report and facilitates data error corrections and coding.
  • Analyzes drilling fluids, bottom hole assemblies, hydraulics, casing designs, cement design, and rig capabilities and requirements to plan and schedule well operations
  • Collaborates with internal operations and external regulatory agencies to ensure drilling operations meet all required standards and specifications; provides drilling engineering guidance in developing assets to functional groups
  • Assists with the research and testing of new technologies in operations
  • Acts as drilling lead during well control or safety incidents as needed
  • Primary responsibility for well file population and management for assigned wells.
  • Full understanding of, and active participation in, HES Program. Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable regulations and Company HES training requirements and policies.
  • Manages contracts and contractors to continuous improvement via the Contract and Contractor Management Standard.
  • Assists with timely procurement of material, equipment and personnel. Reviews and approves invoices for accuracy.
  • Performs rig site supervision as required.

As this drilling program will focus on unconventional assets and involve horizontal drilling, experience with horizontal wells is essential, and preferably experience drilling horizontal wells in the Mid-Continent.   This drilling engineer will be a key player in the design and execution of this drilling program, so the client will insist on a high level of expertise and strong references.

Candidates with 12 to 40 years of professional experience will be considered.  Compensation will reflect experience and will take into account the candidate’s ability to make an immediate and long-lasting impact on the organization.
