Senior Production Engineer – Dallas, TX
CSI Recruiting is searching for a Production Engineer for a growing E&P company based in Dallas, Texas and focused on oil & gas production in the Permian. Client is seeking in-house experience working as a Production Engineer in the Permian Basin for an E&P / Operating company. As the company has conventional and unconventional assets in the Permian, they are open to experience with either (or both!) flavors of assets. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience working as a petroleum engineer focused on domestic, onshore assets.

The Senior Production Engineer will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
Job Description:
The Senior Production Engineer will support day-to-day production operations activity in the Permian Basin, working with both conventional wells and new-drill unconventional wells.
The position will be responsible for:
Production Optimization (including Well Work – Workover and Recompletion Activity)
- Control and adjust production parameters to optimize gas production of a large number of existing vertical wells.
- Monitor and identify variances in the flow rate and pressure, and lead production optimization activities, including artificial/plunger lift and condensate management to enhance production rates from the wells
- Diagnose downhole and surface equipment problems, support root cause failure analysis process, and recommend intervention or design changes as needed
- Review well files and logs to identify, design and execute behind pipe recompletion targets within existing producing wells.
- Lead well reviews with the operations team and subsurface to identify opportunities for improvement, including but not limited to artificial lift optimization, facilities and pipelines bottlenecks, compression improvements, and other equipment improvements.
- Generate and review capital/expense AFE’s for facility, workover, and regulatory expenditures
- Prepare and execute Workover programs designed to reactivate downed wells, reduce downtime, and/or decrease operating expenses.
- Position will be expected to fly to and from the field to supervise on-site work as required.
- Investigate new technologies and implement when appropriate
Operating Costs
- Actively manage Operating Cost with field personnel to ensure competitive lifting costs are achieved.
- Review lease operating expenditures and identify opportunities/technologies to lower costs
- Help negotiate contracts to ensure competitive pricing of all products and services are maintained.
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration– Work with:
- Field Production Operations team to support day-to-day production activities.
- Reservoir Engineering to maximize economic deliverability of the field. Ensure all wells are performing in-line with capability, and within OPEX
- Reservoir Engineering and Geology to prioritize, plan and execute Recompletion Operations
- Facilities Engineering on gathering system operations and de-bottlenecking
- Accounting on Monthly LOS Process.
- Regulatory to ensure 100% compliance

- Able to be detail-oriented, self-starter, and work with little supervision while maintaining goals and tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform economic analysis and justification
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and Spotfire, PHDWin and other economic analysis tools is a plus.
- Knowledge and application of nodal analysis
- Knowledge of well control principles
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years petroleum engineering experience
- Experience in the Permian Basin required. Ideal candidates will have experience in conventional vertical gas development projects.
